Foodie Adventures in SF: Week of August 13th

Ben Lauzier

August 13, 2012

TBD

There’s plenty of foodie fun to be had in San Francisco this week. For example:

Celebrate the start of your week by making Great Gin Cocktails on Monday (8/13). Take notes as Tony Abou-Ganim, The Modern Mixologist, reveals the secrets behind mixing great gin drinks at home. From shaking and stirring to muddling and blending, you’ll learn all you need to know to set up and tend your own home bar.

Julia Child

If you’ve been searching for inspiration or just need new ideas for your next great recipe, come to South Berkeley Farmers’ Market this Tuesday (8/14). In honor of what would have been the great Julia Child’s 100th birthday, there will be a live cooking demonstration and free tastings.

Also, this month’s installment of Slow Sippin’ Happy Hour takes place on Wednesday (8/15). It will be hosted at Rye, one of the premier cocktail bars in downtown San Francisco, renowned for its market-driven cocktails. This event will feature heavily-discounted drinks, support the slow food movement and subscribe to the farm-to-fork philosophy.

Looking for a great way to master cooking and wine? Luckily, The Right Blend and First Class Cooking are partnering on a unique series of wine and culinary events. Soak it Up Wine & Cooking takes place this Thursday (8/16). It’ll be an evening of fun with new friends, as we prepare a meal together, enjoy new wine varietals, and look for the perfect pairing.

Then, join us at Alemany Market on Friday (8/17) for La Cocina’s first-ever Night Market! Twenty-seven vendors from all over the world will each make one great thing. This event is a benefit for La Cocina, a non-profit incubator kitchen responsible for helping talented food vendors share their culinary gifts with the Bay Area.

Finally, don’t miss out this Saturday (8/18). La Cocina’s 4th annual Street Food Festival will be taking place on Folsom Street, between 20th and 26th. This year, we’re pleased to be a sponsor of this amazing, highly-anticipated event. It will bring together micro-entrepreneurs, informal food vendors, and renowned chefs to celebrate great street food, true entrepreneurial spirit, and the vibrant communities here in the Bay Area. Hope to see you there!
