Sweet Office Celebrations

Sally Ekman

May 5, 2015

TBD

Close your eyes and think back to your last office birthday. How did you celebrate? What about a colleague’s baby shower, work anniversary, product launch, or other celebratory occasion? I bet you didn’t have a make-your-own ice cream sandwich bar.

In this month’s vendor spotlight, we’re featuring sweet vendors that can turn your next office occasion into an office celebration.

CREAM (San Francisco, CA)

Cream catering

What’s better than a scoop of cold ice cream between two warm, fresh-baked cookies? When that ice cream is on your company’s dime! We can bring these perfect creations directly into your office, turning any event into a special occasion.

But these aren’t your mama’s ice cream sandwiches. CREAM offers a plethora of ice cream flavors – like banana fudge walnut, butter pecan, strawberry cheesecake, and salted caramel. Pair their acclaimed ice creams with an assortment of cookies, like red velvet, white chocolate macadamia nut, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, and of course, chocolate chip. You can mix and match cookies, or have your ice cream served inside a crispy taco cone. Vegan? Gluten-free? Lactose intolerant? Don’t fret! CREAM has a variety of options to accommodate every dietary request!

West Town Bakery (Chicago, IL)

Grab your party by the balls – the cake balls that is! West Town Bakery offers almost a dozen flavors of these bite-sized treats, made from all-natural, locally-sourced ingredients. Try their French Toast Cakeball, a moist vanilla cake with swirls of cinnamon, dipped in white chocolate, and rolled in cinnamon sugar. Or their Chocolate Peanut Cakeball: a chocolate cake dipped in dark chocolate then rolled in roasted peanuts. No matter which flavor you choose, you won’t be able to have just one.

West Town Bakery also crafts impressive custom cakes that are almost too incredible to eat. What better way to celebrate an occasion like a new product release than commemorating it in cake form?

Street Treats (Seattle, WA)

Sweet Treats catering

Founded in 2010, Street Treats is one of Seattle’s first and most-beloved food trucks. Everything on their menu is made by hand from scratch daily, including their ice creams, which contain only eggs, milk, cream and sugar. Nothing artificial here!

However, Street Treats delivers more than their namesake; they deliver an experience. From build-your-own ice cream cookie sandwiches to do-it-yourself sundaes, put the power in your colleagues’ hands by letting them concoct their own tasty creations. Or go retro with classic favorites like Root Beer floats. Just throw on Spotify’s 100 Best Tracks of the 50s, and you have yourself a theme party!

Miam Miam Macaronerie (Boston, MA)

Miam Miam catering

Say “Oui oui!” to Miam Miam Macaronerie, a French macaron pastry shop located in South Boston. These delicate treats will make you feel like you’re dining with the queen. Try one of their fancy flavors – like Praline, Poached Pear, White Chocolate Raspberry, Rose, Pistachio, or Salted Caramel. These macarons are perfect for any fête, whether an office baby shower or a birthday celebration!

Cornucopia (Austin, TX)

Cornucopia catering

All hail the popcorn gods! Cornucopia is showering the lucky folks of Austin with wacky, delicious popcorn that will suit any occasion. They even have a birthday cake flavor! Whether you like ‘em candied, chocolate-coated, or spiced, Cornucopia has a popcorn flavor for every palate!

Major sweet tooth? Try the S’mores, Nutella Delight, or Chocolate-Covered Cherry. Feeling salty? Try the Creamy Jalapeno Ranch, Garlic & Herb, or Scorchin’ Sriracha. Made fresh daily, this crunchy treat will send you into withdrawal as soon as you hand hits the dreaded bottom of the tin bucket.

Minnie’s Bakeshop (New York City, NY)

Minnie's Bakeshop catering

We must clarify that a Minnie is NOT a cupcake. Rather, it’s eight generous dollops of icing, sandwiched between two moist cakes and finished with a luscious topping – all in bite size form (2″ high x 1.25″ wide to be exact). With over 20 cake varieties and 15 icing choices, you can create the perfect Minnie for any taste. Or go with one of their signatures, like the Caramelized-Apple-Spice, an apple spice cake with dollops of burnt-sugar caramel icing and topped with caramelized apples. Or their Pumpkin Praline, a pumpkin cake with bits of New Orleans pralines baked in, dollops of salted-caramel icing and topped with more pralines.

You can make your next office event extra special by hosting one of Minnie’s “make your own Minnie” parties. They include a variety of cakes, icings in piping bags, and toppings of your choice. It’s a fun and delicious way to bond with co-workers.

Lynette’s Cakes & Catering (Washington, DC)

Lynette's Cakes catering

A former contestant on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, Chef Lynnette knows a thing or two about cupcakes. Her baked goods have become notorious across the DC area: she feeds everyone from Capitol Hill to the Comcast Sports Network, and everyone in between. All of her cupcakes are glorious, though we’re partial to the Toasted Coconut, Red Velvet, and the oh-so-moist Banana Pudding.
